Les Villes Nouvelles - Shanghai
Since the 90s, Shanghai has known a tremendous urban and social revolution. Hundreds of thousands of inhabitants have seen their lifestyle shattered to lose ground to high-speed modernization and city growth.
These new skyscrappers, endless sweep of condominiums, suspended highways, giant interchange in the heart of town...are part of what is called "The New Cities".
The use of almost vintage saturated colours of this photo reportage epitomizes the contrast between the surreal modernization of Shanghai and the fight of the old city dwellers against the State planification. -
